Coach Doane started
coaching with CSST as head coach in 1988. Under Mike’s
coaching expertise, CSST has become one of the dominant teams in
the region as well as nationally. Mike brings 33 years of coaching
experience to CSST, including 10 years of collegiate
experience.
Mike’s

Kate Doane
CSST Contact/Assistant Coach

Kate started coaching with CSST in
2001. Kate brings her excellent coaching skills to CSST from
Indiana. She grew up swimming for the Fox Chapel Killer Whales in
Pittsburgh, PA. Kate graduated from Indiana University with her
B.S. in Physical Education/ Minor Health and M.S. in School Health
Education. During her tenure at Indiana, she helped to start the
water polo club that turned varsity in 1997. Kate played 5 years
for Indiana and had many recognitions including All-American
status. Kate currently is the Physical Education teacher at Gold
Camp Elementary. She is the Head Coach for Cheyenne Mountain Girls
High School Swim Team and the Aquatics Director for the Colorado
Springs Country Club pool. In Kate’s spare time, if she has
any, she enjoys yoga, skiing, and playing golf.
Kari Leach

Kari is the office administrator for CSST, as
well as assistant coach where needed. She has been coaching
age group swimming for 18 years.
Kari was a Junior National Swimmer in the 50
and 100 freestyle in high school. She swam for Arizona State
University, and graduated from CSU Long Beach California with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Leisure
Studies. Kari played water polo for the Long Beach State Club
Team and was a member of the 1987 US National B Team for
Women’s water polo. She coached age group water polo in
Southern California before moving to Colorado Springs as well as
masters swimming.
Kari has been with CSST since 1997 coaching at
the Gold and Silver level, as well as office administrator
for 3 years previous. She started the
women’s water polo program at Colorado College in
2004 and coached the team for 6 years before the program was cut at
the end of the 2009 season. She was also the assistant
Men’s and Women’s swim coach at Colorado College during
those years.
Kari is married to Jason and has three
children, Rachel, Kyle and Ryan, all swimming for
CSST.

George graduated from
Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2001. He was
a coach at Tidal Wave Swim Club, PA, from 1999 to 2001. From 2001
to 2006, he coached the Loveland Swim Club in Colorado and the
Woodland Hills Aquatic Team in Pennsylvania. He has been a Senior
Team and Gold Team coach for CSST since 2006.
George also works for
USA Swimming and is a certified strength and conditioning
specialist.

Jamie has been coaching
the CSST Masters team for over 20 years. He has a Masters degree in
Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley. He competes regularly at
local and National Masters swim meets. Jamie has been a Masters
All-American and was USMS National Champion in the 200M
Breaststroke and 200M IM in the 1989 USMS LC National
Championships. In 2007 and 1999, Jamie was voted the COMSA Coach of
the Year.

Katie Baker

Katie started coaching
with CSST in 2003, working with both the Gold and silver programs.
Katie has a degree in journalism from Indiana University and
currently works as the National Teams Program Coordinator for USA
Triathlon. Katie swam for the Lake Erie Dolphins in Cleveland, Ohio
as an age group swimmer and now actively competes in Ironman
competitions and has completed four marathons.

Jim graduated from
Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts. He has been
involved with competitive swimming since he was six years old,
either competing or coaching. He has been a Senior Team and Gold
Team coach for CSST since 2002.

MJ has been coaching for
CSST since 2004. She currently works full time for USA Swimming as
a Sports Performance Consultant. Originally from New York City, MJ
coached on the collegiate level for 7 years before coming to
Colorado. MJ has a beautiful 4 year old, Ana, who is learning how
to swim.
